The LCHS Career Club recently traveled to Seattle for an career awareness field trip. Students listened to a panel of employees at Blink, a creativity and research firm that helps businesses develop, design and inspire new digital products. Students also visited with Ryan Divish, the Seattle Times Reporter Beat Writer for the Seattle Mariners. Ryan is from Havre, MT, and spoke words on following your passions and finding a career that you love and are excited to go to each day. Ryan also gave a behind the scenes tour of the T-Mobile Park shortly before the Seattle Mariners game.. Students got to see the video/audio board operators, as well as television and radio announcing booths, and diamond club catering areas that are off limits to the general public. Students toured the Climate Pledge Arena, the home of the NHL's Seattle Kracken, the WNBA's Seattle Storm, and numerous concerts. The Arena is the world's first net zero certified arena in in the world. Also on the itinerary was a walking tour of the University of Washington, as well as the Seattle Japanese Gardens. Students also checked out the Gum Wall, The Farmers Market, and Seattle Waterfront. Overall, the students had a great time, made great memories, and got to experience life in the big city. Thank you to all those people and businesses that supported our trip!

They also went to the Edmonton Mall amusement/water park and went to an Edmonton Oilers hockey game. The students fund-raised for the entire trip. The Freshman Transition Biology class learned how to make edible slime as part of learning Scientific Method. This hands on project allowed students to use research and theory to test their experiment. Each group used different products to make and test their edible slime. The data was then collected and analyzed as a class. Great job students. Go Lions!

SPECIAL COMMUNITY EVENT PRESENTATION - January 10 at 6:00pm. While her life was tragically cut short during the Columbine High School shooting on April 20, 1999, Rachel Joy Scott’s shining example of kindness and compassion was not defeated that day. Come hear the inspiring true story of one girl’s dream being fulfilled 2 decades after her death. The presentation is a powerful reminder of the little things we can do every day to make our world a better place. “Let’s inspire and equip every person to create a permanent positive change not only in themselves, but in their schools, their businesses, and in your community.” LCHS Students will attend the presentation during the school day.

The Eureka Elementary Christmas concert scheduled for this evening has been postponed to the first week in January due to extreme winter driving conditions. We will be putting out some information on how the concert will be conducted in the near future. We will also cancel all after school activities this evening. Superintendent Joel Graves says, "I feel at this time it's best to get every student home while it's still light outside. I don't feel comfortable with students driving home from practices/activities in these conditions in the dark."
