Welcome to Eureka Elementary!
Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2025–26 school year at Eureka Elementary! I hope your summer has been filled with fun, family, and time to recharge. We’re excited to kick off another year of learning, growth, and connection. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning for another year, we’re so glad to have you as part of our school community.
This will be my fourth year as principal at Eureka Elementary. Before stepping into this role, I spent 16 years teaching in both the elementary and middle school buildings. My husband teaches and serves as the Athletic Director at the high school, and our three boys grew up right here in Eureka. This summer, our family welcomed a new grandson, Wesley Lincoln, and we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first granddaughter this fall!
At Eureka Elementary, we prioritize building strong relationships and creating a safe, supportive space for every student to thrive. We believe that education works best when it’s a true partnership between home and school. One way to get involved is through our wonderful Parents In Action (PIA) group, which supports staff and students in countless ways. You can find them on Facebook or reach out via email at pia@teameureka.net.
Communication plays a big role in student success, so please be sure you're connected to ClassDojo—our primary platform for updates, reminders, messages, and celebrations throughout the year. Your child’s teacher will also use it to share class-specific happenings. The app is free to use, with optional upgrades. We also post information on our district website (lchigh.net) and social media pages. And don’t forget to update your contact info with our school secretary at (406) 297-5500 to ensure we can reach you when needed.
Please understand that while our staff works hard to stay connected, they also have families and commitments outside of school hours. We encourage respectful boundaries around communication timing. For anything urgent, call the school directly and leave a message if needed—we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
A few important reminders as we begin the year:
You’ll find our student handbook on the district website. It’s a great resource for understanding school policies and expectations. Please make sure you read through it, because you will need to sign that you have read the handbook.
Attendance matters! Missing just two days a month adds up to 10% of the school year. Please call the school if your child will be absent.
Breakfast is served daily starting at 7:45 a.m. First bell rings at 8:15 a.m., and the tardy bell follows at 8:20 a.m. Dismissal is at 3:25 p.m.
For drop-off and pick-up, please remain in your vehicle while in the line. If you need extra time, park in the lot to keep traffic flowing. Please check out the Drop-off/Pick-up Document.
FREE breakfast and lunch are available to all students again this year, though previous lunch balances still need to be paid. Milk is $0.40 when purchased separately from a full school lunch.
We currently do not have after-school care in place, but we are actively working on finding a solution.
Save the Date!
Our Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th from 2–4 p.m. It’s a great time to meet teachers and get settled in before school officially begins on Wednesday, August 27th. Grades K–2 will hold parent-teacher conferences on the first day instead of regular classes. Kindergarten also does a staggered start, so be sure to see that schedule. Enclosed will be that information for you. K-2 students will have their first day of school on Thursday, August 28th, so please plan accordingly.
We are eager to begin this school year with you and your child(ren). Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns—either to your child’s teacher or to me. Here’s to a joyful and successful school year!

Heather Dunn
