Service. Character. Leadership. Scholarship.
If, after your sophomore year, you have an overall grade point average of 3.5 or better, the Faculty Council will invite you to submit documentation of your good character, your leadership skills, and your service to our community. You alone are responsible for that documentation, although school disciplinary and attendance records may be consulted to verify that you are a good citizen in our school.
Who Selects the Inductees?
The principal appoints the Faculty Council annually. The Faculty Council is made up of five teacher picked from the high school staff and are known for their dedication to the National Honor Society.
The Privilege of National Honor Society Selection
It is important to note; STUDENTS DO NOT JOIN THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. It is not a “club,” it is a service organization. You will be expected to participate in meetings, service projects, and concession duties at some games. There is an annual $5 membership fee.
“Selection to National Honor Society is a privilege, not a right. Students do not apply for membership in the National Honor Society; instead they provide information to be used by the Faculty Council to support their candidacy for membership (23 NHS Handbook)”
