CONCERT BAND:
- Learn the skills of playing in a band and working together.
- be taught the use of your instrument through correct posture, breathing, and technique
- Gain knowledge about the form, style, performance practice, historical context and theory of the instrumental music studied.
- Develop sight reading skills and learn the appropriate use of your instrument for various musical styles
- Explore the music of the great composers of the ages as well as contemporary American composers, folksong arrangements from around the world, Afro-American styles such as gospel and spirituals, popular music, and non-Western and world music
- Learn the skills of choral singing and working together.
- Be taught the use of your vocal instrument through correct posture, breathing, exercises in tone production and movement.
- Gain knowledge about the form, style, performance practice, historical context and theory of the choral music studied.
- Develop sight reading skills and learn the appropriate use of the voice for various musical styles
- Explore the music of the great composers of the ages as well as contemporary American composers, folksong arrangements from around the world, Afro-American styles such as gospel and spirituals, popular music, and non-Western and world music.
Music Workshop- Provides students an opportunity to study music within an individualized learning plan. Students explore their learning styles and learning intelligences, and how to apply them to musical achievement. Students choose their musical focus and, with the teacher, design learning goals, learning plans, and outcomes.
