ART I

This class is offered to any one grades  9-12. Art I covers an introduction of the concepts of the elements and the principles of design.  It allows students beginning in art to explore various mediums for drawing and painting and shows them methods of drawing such as contour, linear perspective and using a grid.  The second quarter encourages products in printmaking and multiple images using creative multimedia. A drawing portfolio is required.  Historical references enrich the curriculum.

Water color painting is covered the third quarter with detailed instructions until midterm to learn techniques.  Then the students are allowed to create their own original watercolors with the techniques they have learned. Historical and contemporary watercolors are observed and discussed.

The spring quarter topic is ceramics.  Students learn the care of equipment and gain knowledge of the kiln, clays and glazes. Methods of construction taught are coil, pinch pot, slab method, and construction using the potter’s wheel. They will learn how to alter and trim pots, attach handles and make tiles.  The methods of decoration taught are coil, textures, incised line, pierced, carved sgraffito, under glazing, glazing and slip trailing. A review of contemporary pottery is part of the curriculum.

This class is offered to all students who have taken Accounting I and want to learn automated accounting on the computer. Learn to record transactions and prepare financial statements at the touch of a button. Current computerized accounting programs, such as DacEasy and Peachtree, will be compared to see differences and similarities in the accounting business. Get a head start before you enter the world. Most all companies and corporations are using automated accounting in their business.
